What is cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are substances found in hemp. CBD is one of hundreds of identified cannabinoids in the plant that are known today. Other cannabinoids include: CBG, CBN, CBC, CBDL, CBL, CBE, CBT.

These bind to either CB1 or CB2, which are cannabinoid receptors found at various sites in the central nervous system.

What is cannabidiol (CBD)?

CBD stands for Cannabidiol and is one of the most active substances in hemp. CBD is essential for medical purposes because it does not in itself cause the characteristic feeling of being high, according to the World Organization (WHO). They also believe that CBD in humans shows no effects whatsoever indicating abuse or addiction potential. There is no evidence of public health problems associated with the use of pure CBD. Out of more than 100 different cannabinoids in hemp, CBD is one of the most studied cannabinoids due to the proven positive medical health effect. Interest in CBD is growing among the population and it is becoming increasingly known for its positive effect on the market.

What is the Endocannabinoid system (ECS)?

The endocannabinoid system is a biological system consisting of receptors that bind to cannabinoids. The endocannabinoid system has been shown to be involved in regulating, among other things, physiological and cognitive functions, including fertility, pregnancy, postpartum development, the immune system, appetite, pain experience, mood and memory. Cannabinoid receptors are the most common receptors in the body and are activated when cannabinoids bind to them so that the system can be activated and then be able to regulate and create balance in the body (homeostasis). The endocannabinoid system has proven to be the most important system in the body because it in itself controls all the smaller systems (immune system, digestion, blood pressure, fluid balance, body temperature, kidneys – and liver). CBD works e.g. through the endocannabinoid system to regulate blood pressure. CBD is anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant – both of which have a positive effect on high blood pressure. CBD acts on the blood vessels to reduce blood pressure and thus be able to regulate it to find its homeostasis. This is one of the reasons why CBD is so important for humans and animals as we need a stable internal balance.
